Do you know why bullets are encrypted?

Ever wondered why bullets have numbers?

This numbering system, which generally runs from 1 to 4, has a real purpose. Its purpose is to ensure that golfers don 't confuse their ball with that of another player! Despite the multitude of brands and models on the market, you can never be sure that a ball identical to your own won't cause trouble!

Nowadays, golf balls are available with a larger number scale. They can be personalized with any number you like. In some places, markets have understood this, for example in Asia and Japan, where the number 4 is banned because of its symbolism evoking death and bad luck. ☠️ It was quickly replaced by the lucky number 7!

Some celebrities have customized bullets of their own, including:

- At the time, Isao Aoki, the first Japanese to win a title abroad, was playing the 5.

- Sam Snead was known for playing with 0.

- Rory McIlroy plays with 22, the date of his wedding anniversary.

- Jason Day plays with 87, the year of his birth.

- Justin Rose with 99, his lucky number.

- Tiger Woods with number 1, we wonder why! 🤔🏆

The number of digits is also important. A 2-digit number does not have the same meaning as a 3-digit number.

2-digit balls:

often indicate the compression ratio, i.e. the feel of the ball. There are so-called "soft" balls with a low compression ratio, such as the Srixon Soft Feels models you're familiar with.

The higher the compression ratio, the harder the stroke must be for the ball to work properly. The highest rate stops at 100.

Three-digit balls:

indicate the number of dimples in the ball. Indeed, the number of dimples will impact the aerodynamics of the golf ball and therefore its performance. These indicators will help you choose the right ball.

You know it all! What's your favorite number? 🍀

In 2022, dare to customize your golf balls to make them unique!
